Growing up in a family involved in fishing and construction, she learned the value of hard work from an early age. Currently, Melissa resides in Cornwall with her partner Andrew, their daughter Samantha, and son Dawson.

Melissa holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Prince Edward Island and a college diploma in Business, and has gained valuable experience working for both the Federal and Provincial governments in the past.
